I have to admit that working on the new Riverside album “ID.Entity” – which, for the first time in the band’s career, was produced only by me – has left me completely drained. So at the end of 2022, I had to look for some peace and quiet, and unwind after the progressive marathon.
“Intervallum” is a very long track inspired by Vangelis’s “Blade Runner”, with elements of Riverside’s “Eye of the Soundscape”.
Vangelis, who sadly passed away earlier this year, was an incredibly important and inspiring artist for me. Albums like the aforementioned “Blade Runner”, “Albedo 0.39”, “Heaven and Hell” or even “1492” made me fall in love with soundscapes and melodies, and shaped my music sensitivity in general.
I’m not sure if I have stressed it enough in my work, so I would really like to dedicate this composition to Vangelis.
I recorded “Intervallum” by myself in Serakos studio in December 2022, under the guidance of Magda and Robert Srzedniccy, and the cover, which you can see in the picture, was created by the German artist, Hajo Müller, who has been keeping me company on my electronic journeys.
Enjoy! It’s… a different one.
