Intervallum is the most straightforward release in the solo catalogue to describe and the hardest to categorise. It is a single unbroken piece of synthesiser music lasting just over twenty-seven minutes, with no track divisions and no obvious structural landmarks.

The circumstances explain a great deal. Duda recorded it immediately after completing production work on Riverside’s ID.Entity, wanting, in his own words, peace and quiet, and to unwind after the progressive marathon. The result is deliberately undemanding in a way none of the trilogy albums are.

The dedication

Vangelis died in May 2022, and Intervallum is dedicated to him. Duda has named Blade Runner, Albedo 0.39, Heaven and Hell and 1492 as records that shaped his own sense of what a soundscape can do and how melody sits inside one.

That influence is audible rather than implied: this is patient, wide, synthesiser-led music in the Blade Runner tradition. Duda has also connected it to Riverside’s Eye of the Soundscape, the band’s own ambient compilation, which makes Intervallum something of a bridge between his two catalogues.

How to listen to it

A twenty-seven-minute single-track release resists the way most people use streaming, and it is worth treating accordingly: one sitting, no shuffle, preferably not as background to something demanding. It rewards a decent pair of headphones or a system that can hold low-level detail, because a lot of what happens sits well below the loudest layer.

For listeners arriving from AFR AI D, this is the opposite end of the same catalogue: no percussion drive, no concept to follow, nothing to decode.

Where it sits

Released two days after the mini-album Let’s Meet Outside, and eleven months before AFR AI D. Between them, those three releases show how wide the solo output had become by the end of 2022 — song-based, purely ambient, and concept-driven electronic, in the space of a year.

Where to listen

Intervallum is on the official Bandcamp page and the major streaming services. The Kscope artist page carries the wider catalogue.
