We have a few things in common with Steve. Apart from music (although sometimes we go in different directions as he’s more into jazz and I’m more into folk), and the fact that we both like to have a few different music projects, we released our solo debuts in 2008 (I swear, we hadn’t agreed to do it at the same time :)), and a little later (and both at a different time) we became stepfathers to two kids (no, not the same kids :)). And then, on October 30th, on the day of Porcupine Tree concert in Katowice, we wore similar shirts. We also both wear glasses (although I take mine off on stage) and we once rocked similar hairstyles. But that’s where similarities end.
It’s my dear colleague’s birthday today so I wanted to say that I really value our friendship. Steven’s music was one of the triggers of my music career and it will always be special to me. We might not be the kind of friends who stay up late chatting about all the music releases in the world over a glass of wine, we have others to do that with, but, somehow, we’re always on the same wavelength, connected by the drive to create – in our own ways, with different musicians, on different levels of initiation.
Happy Birthday Steven. You’ve managed to gain incredible levels of expertise in music and build a few fantastic and truly inspiring music worlds. Be proud of it and never stop, even if you are, inevitably, growing older every year :)))
Ze Stefanem mamy trochę wspólnego. Pomijając zainteresowania muzyczne (chociaż czasem się rozjeżdżamy, bo on bardziej w jazz a ja w folk) i fakt, że każdy z nas lubi mieć kilka niezależnych autorskich muzycznych bytów, połączyło nas jeszcze to, że – autentycznie bez umawiania się – w 2008 wydaliśmy nasze solowe debiuty, trochę później – i każdy w innym czasie – zostaliśmy ojczymami dwójki dzieciaków (nie, nie tych samych :)) oraz w dniu koncertu Porcupine Tree 30 października w Katowicach założyliśmy podobne koszule. Fakt, nosimy okulary (ja na scenie zdejmuję) i kiedyś mieliśmy te same fryzury, ale to chyba na tyle.
Szanowny kolega kończy dzisiaj piękny wiek, więc chciałem tylko powiedzieć, że niezwykle cenię sobie naszą przyjaźń. Muzyka Stevena była w końcu jednym z zapalników mojej muzycznej kariery, więc zawsze będę ją cenił. Nie gadamy może przy winie do późna o wszystkich płytach świata, bo od tego są inni, ale jakoś tak transcendentalnie zawsze nadajemy na podobnych falach. Łączy nas to, że lubimy dużo tworzyć, każdy po swojemu, każdy z innymi muzykami i każdy na innym poziomie wtajemniczenia.
Wszystkiego najlepszego Steven. Udało Ci się przez te wszystkie lata posiąść niesamowitą muzyczną wiedzę i zbudować kilka fantastycznych niezwykle inspirujących muzycznych światów. Bądź z tego dumny i nie przestawaj, mimo, oczywiście tej nieubłaganej i wciąż postępującej starości :))))
